Digital Product Passport: the ticket to achieving a climate neutral and circular European economy?

The new report on Digital Products Passports (DPPs) will be launched in a hybrid event hosted by CLG Europe's Materials & Products Taskforce. DPPs, which share information about the composition, repair and disassembly possibilities of a product, are expected to play a key role in enabling information on carbon content and recyclability of complex products to be shared across the value chains and to support end-of-life processing of the components. DPPs have a potentially powerful role in increasing circularity and creating markets for low-carbon materials and products. The briefing examines what DPPs could look like, how they could be implemented, and what benefits and potential barriers businesses consider to their implementation.

On 12 July 2022 at 10.00-11.30 am (CEST), the event will provide a space for stakeholders to discuss the key role that the Digital Products Passport can play to enable a successful industrial transition towards sustainable development, and its importance in wider climate debate. The report seeks to encourage progressive advocacy in this EU policy debate. The event will feature representatives from the Taskforce member’s businesses, European policymakers and third-party representatives.
