The first Global Stocktake (GST) under the Paris Agreement will be concluded in 2023 with its political phase. This so-called consideration of outputs component will take place during the twenty-eighth Conference of the Parties to the 28th UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in November and December 2023.

Researchers have developed various approaches to this political phase, laid out in the discussion paper "Options for the political phase of the Global Stocktake". On 9 March 2023, the paper will be presented and discussed at an online seminar at 2 pm. Researchers Anna Pérez Català, Senior Researcher at IDDRI, Dr. Andrew Marquard, Senior Researcher at the University of Cape Town, and Marine Pouqet from the Climate Action Network, will present their views and then engage with participants in an open discussion.

The aim of this online seminar is to discuss options for how to structure the process and its outputs for an ambitious Global Stocktake at the COP28. Wolfgang Obergassel, Co-Head of the Global Climate Governance Research Unit at the Wuppertal Institute, moderates the event. It is part of the project GST-Monitor implemented by Oeko-Institut, NewClimate Institute, Wuppertal Institute and German Aerospace Center (DLR) Projektträger, and commissioned by the German Environment Agency.

Registration is required to attend the event. Further information can be found under the link below.
