Sustainability Strategy NRW

In-Depth Analysis Regarding the Implementation from a Scientific Perspective

  • Project no.252339
  • Duration 01/2021 - 12/2024

In autumn 2020, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) published an updated sustainability strategy to be implemented in the coming years. This research project of the Wuppertal Institute accompanies the implementation of this sustainability strategy through in-depth scientific analyses. As such, the project will study the vertical integration of the state's activities into the global process of implementing the 2030 Agenda and the interactions between different goals, in particular regarding the implementation of a sustainable administration of the state. As areas of action with systemic thrust, the research will focus on the implementation of a circular economy in NRW and sustainable mobility. These research activities are flanked by advice, reflection and multiplication within the framework of the externally staffed project advisory board "TEAM Sustainability", an international exchange with other regions and the identification of future trends within the framework of a sustainability radar.
