The aim of the study is to systematically record, analyse and evaluate the preconditions, levers and obstacles of diverse productive work in city centres, town and district centres on the basis of selected case studies. In addition to different types of centres, further aspects are taken into account in the selection: location and area types (e.g. close to the city centres, outskirts; Gründerzeit district), relevant groups of actors (foundations, cooperatives, associations) or urban features (commercial yards, stacking of uses, vertical production).
