Creation of a Guide for "Circular Business Models for Mechanical and Plant Engineering"

  • Project no.352838
  • Duration 04/2022 - 03/2023

The transformation to a circular economy is influenced by numerous environmental, economic, political and regulatory drivers. For companies in particular, this means major changes for the future. However, companies will be affected to varying degrees by the changes: Especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), the transformation entails numerous challenges.

For this reason, a practical guide to the step-by-step implementation of a circular economy in companies is being prepared in cooperation with the German Mechanical and Plant Engineering Federation (VDMA). This guide is aimed at VDMA association members as well as SMEs. It will help the target group to participate in the circular economy or to get started with it. In this context, the concept of the circular economy including the so-called "10-R-Strategies" will be discussed and elaborated by existing practical applications. Special attention is also given to the digital requirements for enabling a circular economy. The guide is set up as an easily understandable and introductory document that provides the reader with a sound overview of the circular economy and concrete starting points for the products of mechanical and plant engineering.
