The project BioEnergieDat aims at the supply of a current and extensive database for an energetic use of biomass. It is to contain information about the state of technology, the ecological effects as well as the economic parameters of production-, supply-, and conversion processes. It is usable for the modular structured accounting of process chains in a publicly accessible Open Source Software developed during this project.
BioEnergieDat is focussed on the following objectives:
The project results are especially to support the development of a sustainable biomass strategy of the German Government. Insofar, they contribute to deal with the economic, environmental and agricultural use of biomass as a complexe overall issue. The process takes place in a consortium of scientific institutions and commercial companies.
In order to ensure the support of the biomass strategy, a board with representatives of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), of the Federal Ministry of Nutrition, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV), of the Federal Environmental Agency (UBA), as well of other relevant institutions was established. Furthermore, this board contributes to an intensive project networking with all important ongoing funding activities in the context of energetic use of biomass.
