Scientific Support for the Climate and Energy Action Network of the e-Parliament Initiative

  • Project no.2205
  • Duration 10/2002 - 08/2004

The e-Parliament Initiative has as its main objective to create a network of all Members of democratically elected national or supranational Parliaments of the world. The Wuppertal Institut provided scientific support for the Climate and Energy Action Network of the Initiative. This included, on the one hand, texts on energy policy instruments, and particularly on good examples for policy to support energy efficiency and renewable energies. These texts can provide inspiration for the members of the Network and the general public for launching own energy policy initiatives.
On the other hand, the institute drafted "policy toolkits" for concrete and co-ordinated political initiatives of the Network, i.a. for reducing the standby power consumption of electrical appliances to a maximum of 1 Watt, and on energy efficiency in buildings.
Finally, the institute contributed to the preparations and implementation of a workshop and a side-event in the framework of the "Renewables 2004" conference in Bonn, June 2004.
