Energy Efficiency in Existing Buildings and Municipal Integrated Heat Recovery in the Community - Creating Climate Protecion Concepts for the City Waldbroel

  • Project no.1299
  • Duration 05/2013 - 04/2014

The project elaborates two parts of a local climate action plan for the sectors "public buildings" and "integrated use of heat". A first step to improve the local energy balance is to retrofit the public building stock energetically. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a future plan for the building stock and to renovate public buildings sustainably. The city's model role with regard to climate protection is of particular importance. As a basis for decision making and management tool, the partial concept "Climate Protection in Public Buildings" shall support lowering energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and energy costs in the long term. The target for the concept "Integrated Use of Heat" is to give an overview on the potential use of CHP, renewable energies and industrial waste heat. Waldbröl can use the concept as basis for strategic planning of a future ecological heat and cold supply.
