Library

It serves mainly to support the work of Institute employees, but non-members are also welcome.

The library covers all the focal points of the Wuppertal Institute's work and is constantly expanding its media stock on the following topics and others:

  • Energy efficiency
  • Energy industry scenarios
  • Sustainability
  • International climate policy
  • Ecological urban transport
  • Ecological consumption
  • Resource management
  • Environmentally compatible product design
  • Avoiding and relocating traffic
  • Technologies of the future (e.g. electric car)
  • Transition research
  • District development

The library's stock currently consists of about 16,000 books, 150 magazines and journals and 1,100 electronic media. They are classified in accordance with a system devised by Nadja Schiemann that covers all the subject areas in which material is collected. All media are catalogued in an intranet database that also includes essays, articles and conference reports by Institute staff.

Workstations and a book scanner are available.

 

Opening hours

Monday – Thursday 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. / Friday 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
(Non-members of the Institute are welcome to use the library, but please contact the Librarian beforehand.)
