  • News 08.11.2019

On 30 October 2019 the third and final stakeholder workshop took place in Ouarzazate, Morocco, to conclude the case study on solar thermal power plants in the WANDEL project. Once again, around 25 experts from the agricultural, water and energy sectors as well as from public administration came together to discuss the development of water demand and supply in the region. The workshop focused on the question of which strategies can be used to implement water-saving measures that were evaluated in the previous workshop, while at the same time taking into account the interests of all stakeholders. The workshop participants agreed that targeted training and information of citizens should be the first step towards introducing water saving measures.

The workshop was successfully planned and implemented by the Wuppertal Institute in cooperation with the University of Osnabrück and the Moroccan research institute MENARES. The team of the Wuppertal Institute was accompanied and supported by colleagues from the Technical University of Karlsruhe, the United Nations University and the Center for Environmental Systems Research at the University of Kassel.

During their stay in Ouarzazate, the research team of the Wuppertal Institute also visited the NOORo solar power plant together with partners from the University of Kassel and the Karlsruhe University of Technology.
