The Wuppertal Institute together with the lead partner Ecorys and Prognos AG, is responsible for the support and conceptual steering of the EU Just Transition Platform (JTP). The Just Transition Platform is a central instrument of the EU to offer support to member states and regions in the use of Just Transition Mechanism (JTM) funds. The purpose is to ensure that stakeholders in regions particularly dependent on carbon-intensive industries have the information and knowledge they need to make a socially responsible, just transition to a carbon-neutral economy.
The platform organizes regular events for stakeholders from politics, administration, business and civil society to discuss strategies and actions for a Just Transition. An important format are three sectoral working groups in the fields of chemicals, steel and cement as well as a horizontal, cross-sectoral working group. The Wuppertal Institute leads the steel and cement working groups. The researchers organise regular meetings of these working groups and supports their members in the development and implementation of actions for a Just Transition.
