NAMA-LogCo

Building Momentum for Low-Carbon Development in Colombia

  • Project no.250842
  • Duration 02/2016 - 05/2017

The Columbian government has recently adopted a framework for its Sectoral Mitigation Action Plans (SMAP; PAS in Spanish). Implementation of the PAS will be a priority over the next years, especially as monitoring, reporting, and verification systems for future actions will need to be defined. The present project seeks to support the Colombian Low Carbon Development Strategy by determining mitigation potentials of logistics and transport processes within the industrial sector. Together with our partner organisation WWF, the project will identify possible mitigation actions, indicators, and MRV systems (Monitoring, Report and Verification) to propose Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMA) to curb logistics and transport emissions in Colombia's industrial sector.

The project is funded by the International Climate Initiative (ICI) of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) and implemented by WWF in Colombia. The Wuppertal Institute is supporting its project partner by contributing its extensive experience in the fields of international cooperation and sustainable urban mobility to develop a low carbon plan in the fields of logistics and transport in industry.
