RepReUse2024

Reporting on the Reuse of Products for the 2024 Reporting Year in accordance with the Implementation Decision (EU) 2021/19

  • Project no. 353907
  • Duration 09/2025 - 09/2027

The reuse of products constitutes a central dimension of waste prevention – and represents an essential pillar of European circular economy policy. The EU's Waste Framework Directive obliges member states to undertake systematic monitoring on the implementation. The Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/19 operationalises these requirements by defining a harmonised framework for the collection and submission of reuse data in Germany. Within this context, the project team updates Germany’s data on reuse for the 2024 reporting year. To this end,

  • reuse-related measures are identified through a structured survey of federal states and federal authorities,
  • a representative household survey is conducted to quantify the volumes of products entering reuse,
  • and for the first time, data from national and local reuse networks are utilised to estimate the number of reuse facilities.

The project team documents and evaluates the methodological approach. Finally, the researchers develop specific, evidence-based recommendations for action to enhance future reporting.
