Prof. Dr. Uwe Schneidewind, president of the Wuppertal Institute: "We rejoice together with Maja Göpel over her honourable appointment, and we look forward to further working together on the topic of transformations under the new circumstances."

The German Federal Government set up the German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU) as an independent, scientific advisory body in 1992 in the run-up to the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (Rio Earth Summit). The WBGU’s task is to analyse global environmental and development problems and to develop recommendations for action and research in the search for solutions to these problems. Prof. Dr. Uwe Schneidewind is a member of the council since 2013.

Daniel Vallentin and Timon Wehnert will be head of the Berlin Office from 1 September on. It remains an important bridge to the core business of the institute in Wuppertal.
