The lecture series "Climate crisis and sustainability" will enter its seventh round in the winter semester 2024/2025. Center for Transformation Research and Sustainability (TransZent), the General Students' Committee (AStA), Students for Future at the University of Wuppertal and the Wuppertal Institute are jointly inviting you to the lecture series. In five sessions, it deals with different aspects of global climate justice and covers topics ranging from environmental degradation and its consequences in the Global South, current developments in international climate negotiations to concrete examples of civil society engagement and resilience. The lecture is not only intended to inform and impart knowledge, but also to encourage participants to question their own perspectives and sharpen their awareness of global connections.
On December 3, 2024, Madeleine Raabe, researcher in the Future Energy and Industry Systems Unit at the Wuppertal Institute, and Rosebella Nyumba, researcher at the University of Wuppertal, will talk about "Building resilience in the Global South". Madeleine Raabe will report on her experiences from the WISIONS project – an initiative founded and managed by the Wuppertal Institute and supported by the Swiss-based ProEvolution Foundation. It is committed to empowering people and communities to drive a just energy transition and thus enable sustainable development.
The lecture language is English and the event starts at 6 pm on the AStA level of the University of Wuppertal (level ME.04, Max-Horkheimer-Straße 15, 42119 Wuppertal). Participation is free of charge, registration is not required.
The lecture series is aimed at both students and the interested public and offers a platform for discussion.
