  • Since 1993: Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy; first in the Energy Division, then in the Division Energy, Transport and Climate Policy; project manager and scientific coordinator for energy services and local energy policies
  • 1990 - 1993: Owner of an engineering office in Dortmund, Germany
  • 1982 - 1990: Several scientific works on aspects of the municipal energy supply (Institut für Landes- und Stadtentwicklungsforschung des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen - ILS, Dortmund)
