Mitigation Measures for Osnabrück

Creating Profiles of Suitable Mitigation Measures for the City of Osnabrück

  • Duration 06/2012 - 07/2012

In 2008, the Wuppertal Institute developed a package of CO2-emission reduction measures for the city of Osnabrück on the basis of which the city of Osnabrück approved the funding of a climate protection manager, sponsored by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU). Since October 2009, the Climate Protection Manager has been preparing a set of measures in collaboration with a variety of partners and stakeholders. Most of the measures developed in 2008 are now in an implementation phase. As the BMU support of the Climate Protection Initiative for the position of the Climate Protection Manager is limited to three years, the funding period will end soon. In order to continue the successful work of the climate management, the city of Osnabrück intends to apply for a temporary two-year follow-up funding. Against this background, the Wuppertal Institute generated further mitigation measures for the city of Osnabrück which can be taken forward by the Climate Protection Manager in the two-year funding period.
