  • Project no.1327
  • Duration 01/2013 - 04/2013

The project "Fostering Resource Efficiency in India" included the development of a scoping study "India's Future Needs for Resources Dimensions, Challenges, and Possible Solutions" in order to understand the rationale and scope for promoting resource efficiency in India. The focus of the study was on current and future patterns of primary and secondary production and consumption of minerals and metals in India. In addition, the study tried to understand India's approach to resource efficiency and the relevance of 3R concept (reduce - reuse - recycle) for India's economy by analysing existing policies and schemes. On behalf of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the study was developed by a consortium consisting of Institut für Energie- und Umweltforschung Heidelberg (IFEU), The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), Sustainable Europe Research Institute (SERI), Dr. Monika Dittrich, and Wuppertal Institute.
