Pop-Up Dialogue Shops on the Working World of Tomorrow

  • Project no.451409
  • Duration 02/2018 - 12/2018

Pop-up dialogue shops are based on the concept of pop-up stores. Here, vacant shops are used for a limited period of time and for a specific purpose. The project "Pop-up dialogue shops for the working world of tomorrow“ will use this concept to discuss the digitalisation of the work environment and the associated hopes and concerns of citizens in the form of interactive traveling exhibitions.

The project is part of the Science Year 2018 "Work Environments of the Future". As part of this, the project aims to interactively motivate citizens to contribute their opinions, as well as to identify and help to shape opportunities and possibilities regarding the digitalisation of the working environment.

This is realised through six pop-up dialogue shops in German cities in which citizens can experience, recognize and help to shape the topic through playful decision-making situations. Three travelling exhibitions with three scenario worlds are planned, which show the future of work from the perspectives of "Science and Work", "Technology and Work" and "Competencies and Work", as well as looking at and discussing it from a social and ecological point of view. Here, citizens are motivated in various ways to deal with the topic. It is about entering into a dialogue in six local discussion rounds with different actors and possibly contributing to the development of new research questions on the subject.

The Wuppertal Institute is involved in conceptualising the exhibitions as well as their didactic planning. In addition, the Wuppertal Institute is part of interaction processes with the visitors and of presenting the dialogue shops.
