Wuppertal Institute Presence at COP29

Side events during the 29. UN Climate Change Conference in Baku

  • Events 11.11. - 22.11.2024
  • Location Baku (Azerbaijan)

The Wuppertal Institute analyses and develops models, strategies and instruments for the transition towards the sustainable development at regional, national and international level. During the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Wuppertal Institute is organising a series of side events to present its findings and stimulate discussions with delegates, practitioners, and academia.

The side events will reflect on the issues being negotiated in Baku. A particular focus will be placed on various strategies for meeting the objectives of the Paris Agreement, especially on the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions. The thematic focus will be on just industrial transformation and international carbon markets.

Due to the high time pressure resulting from the constantly worsening climate crisis, the side events aim to emphasise how the respective plans, strategies and announcements can be quickly translated into effective policies and measures.
