Analysis of Impact of Energy Efficiency Standards on EU GHG Emissions (EuP Directive)

The project supports the DG Environment of the European Commission in the course of the implementation of the Energy using Products Directive (Ecodesign Directive). It focuses on the analysis and assessment of environmental impacts of requirements for energy using products. As a subcontractor in a consortium headed by Ökopol GmbH, Hamburg, the Wuppertal Institute is involved in the main elements of the project, which are:
a) Analysis and assessment of impacts of the implementation of the Ecodesign Directive on GHG emissions in the EU until the year 2020,
b) continuous advice to the DG Environment with regard to upcoming decisions and stakeholder opinions on requirements for the introduction and use of energy using products in the internal market, and,
c) analysis and development of options for a more dynamic approach to the setting of product requirements (standards, label, etc.).
