The city of Bonn has set itself the goal of becoming climate-neutral by 2035. Against this background, the Wuppertal Institute, together with Jung Stadtkonzepte from Cologne and Gertec GmbH from Essen, develops the Climate Plan 2035, a comprehensive climate neutrality strategy. This strategy describes the necessary political, administrative and organisational framework for achieving the goal of climate neutrality and contains measures with whose ambitious implementation the city of Bonn can make its contribution to achieving the goal. This means that the measures of the climate plan are geared to Bonn's scope for action and address the CO2 reduction that can be achieved by the actions of Bonn stakeholders.
In order to incorporate the knowledge of the Bonn citizens about the need for action and the possibilities for action, the strategy and measures are developed in close coordination with the climate protection activities of the civil society in the city.
The strategy includes the fields of action buildings, energy supply, mobility, economy, waste disposal and social transformation. The Wuppertal Institute works on the fields of economy and mobility.
