Colombia has marked an important milestone with its national circular economy strategy (Estrategia Nacional de Economía Circular, ENEC) published in 2019. Against this background, the ProUSAR project, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung, BMZ), promotes the transformation to a circular economy through sustainable innovation and aims to connect the public and private sectors.
As part of the ProUSAR project, a knowledge cooperation between the Instituto de Capacitación e Investigación del Plástico y del Caucho (ICIPC) in Colombia and the Wuppertal Institute has been established to strengthen the innovation potential of the Colombian plastics and packaging industry in particular. This has been conducted through the exchange of experience, skills, as well as technical and professional know-how between the ICIPC and the Wuppertal Institute.
