JIKO

Further Development of CDM and New Market Mechanisms

  • Project no.250630
  • Duration 11/2015 - 10/2018

JIKO is the German environment ministry's coordination unit for the project-based mechanisms of the Kyoto Protocol and future market mechanisms. In the framework of this project the Wuppertal Institute supports the ministry through scientific advice and supporting public relations work. The project therefore comprises two components:

1. Scientific advice
One of the main tasks is to develop policy papers, statements as well as reports on UNFCCC negotiations and meetings. In addition to that, the project team organises workshops in order to discuss selected topics with the expert community, thereby contributing to the agenda setting.

2. Public relations work
The JIKO team produces various publications on carbon market mechanisms including the quarterly magazine "Carbon Mechanisms Review". The JIKO website features an introduction to the field as well as an up-to-date information on recent developments. Moreover, the project team develops flyers, brochures as well as contributions in social networks.
