Equality& Diversity

At the Wuppertal Institute, we value all people the way they are. We do not tolerate any kind of discrimination!

Equal rights for all genders and the elimination of all forms of discrimination are central values for our work and our cooperation at the Wuppertal Institute. We treat all employees equally. We do also take individual needs into account: This helps to break down possible barriers and ensure equal opportunities. Everyone should be able to develop and pursue their work freely – without encountering stereotypes. We do not tolerate any discrimination at the Institute on the basis of biological gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, age, nationality, origin and social background. The compatibility of work and family life is a given for us.

Team work: People bringing hands together in unity.

Our goal: As a leading think tank for sustainability research and transformation processes, it is a matter of course for us to promote and ensure equal rights, equal treatment and equal opportunities for all employees, both internally and outside the Institute. Our Equal Opportunity Commissioner is available for all questions and problems regarding equality and diversity.

Wuppertal Institute signed the Charta der Vielfalt in 2023

The Charta der Vielfalt (German Diversity Charter) is a corporate initiative to promote diversity in companies and institutions. It aims to promote the recognition, appreciation and integration of diversity into Germany's business culture. Organisations should create a working environment free of biases. All employees should be valued – regardless of age, ethnic origin and nationality, gender, religion and worldview, physical and mental ability, sexual orientation and social background.
