The library covers all the focal points of the Wuppertal Institute's work and is constantly expanding its media stock on the following topics and others:

  • Energy efficiency
  • Energy industry scenarios
  • Sustainability
  • International climate policy
  • Ecological urban transport
  • Ecological consumption
  • Resource management
  • Environmentally compatible product design
  • Avoiding and relocating traffic
  • Technologies of the future (e.g. electric car)
  • Transition research
  • District development

The library's stock currently consists of about 20,000 books, 180 magazines and journals and 500 electronic media. They are classified in accordance with a system devised by Nadja Schiemann that covers all the subject areas in which material is collected. All media are catalogued in an intranet database that also includes essays, articles and conference reports by Institute staff.
